We've no evidence that Steve Coogan supports or has even a
passing interest in the TractorBoys. However, his character, Alan Partridge has
seemed to ruffle a few feathers (that's almost a joke there) with some village
idiots in Norfolk so he's on our site just for that. Below is a report from a
newspaper in November 2002.

WHILE the economy slips further into recession, firemen strike and the Chinese
turn into a nation of Dick Van Dykes, the Mirror reports on Labour's Charles
Joyce, one politician who is managing to keep things in perspective.
Councillor Joyce, a proud Norfolk man, has demanded a council debate to discuss
Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge comedy creation and his constant mickey-taking
aimed at "marvellous
Norfolk".
Mr Joyce is worried that the image portrayed by Coogan's creation is having a
serious effect on the area's attempts to attract new businesses.
"At the mere mention of local communities in Norfolk such as Spixworth, Heacham
or Terrington St Clement there are gales of laughter from the studio audience,"
explained a frustrated Mr. Joyce.
"The Partridge programme could turn the county into a laughing stock".
Another local councillor, Andy Pearson, has gone so far as to blame the comedy
show for scuppering Norwich's chances of winning the European City of Culture
award.
Norwich becoming the European City of Culture? Now, that is worthy of an Alan
Partridge script.
